SafeMerchant Adheres to PCI

The Payment Card Industry has established standards for the protection of cardholder data. SafeMerchant is committed to following the Payment Card Industry's Data Security Standard. To meet the requirement, SafeMerchant is required to take the following steps:

  • Secure the external (public facing) and internal (employee facing) perimeters of our network.
  • Secure the data which flows through and is stored on our networks.
  • Secure our applications from external attack.
  • Contract with PCI approved third party providers to conduct tests of our network for possible vulnerabilities on a quarterly basis.
  • Remediate any discovered vulnerabilities.
  • Contract with PCI approved assessors to conduct onsite reviews of our compliance with PCI on an annual basis.

Cardholder data which must be protected from unauthorized access, as defined by the Payment Card Industry, includes card numbers (both credit and debit cards), expiration dates, pin numbers, security codes, name and address information

SafeMerchant Consumer Fair Information Practices.

If a consumer uses a SafeMerchant merchant to make a purchase using a credit/debit card, some data from the transaction may/will be captured by SafeMerchant to perform the services required of SafeMerchant by the merchant and to facilitate your purchase.

Any personal identifiable information and/or credit card information stored on SafeMerchant systems will only be stored on information systems which meet and/or exceed the Payment Card Industry's Data Security Standard (PCI) and for a period of time as defined in SafeMerchant's security policies.

Information which is captured, stored, processed and/or transmitted through SafeMerchant networks will not be provided to any third party except: 1) to complete the purchase transaction which was initiated by the merchant, and 2) to the merchant when researching transaction activity.

Any and/or all questions with regard to the validity or authenticity of the information provided to SafeMerchant as part of the purchase of any good or services should be directed to the merchant. Should you contact us, we can neither confirm nor deny we have any of your information stored within our systems and/or data archives. We will respond to merchant inquiries only.

Should a security breach occur and it is discovered SafeMerchant failed to take reasonable and appropriate steps as defined by the Payment Card Industry's Data Security Standard, SafeMerchant is subject to fines and penalties up to $500,000 and prohibitions which include the inability to be involved in the processing of credit/debit cards.
